Where is Port Barton?

Port Barton is Palawan's tucked-away destination between Puerto Princesa and El Nido. This destination is not yet commercialized and still has a rotational electricity schedule. The humble town of Port Barton gives you the rural beach vibe of the Philippines. As few tourists visit this place, beach sceneries are still unspoiled. Witnessing sunset here was one of my best; it was as if the sky was on fire. Just blazing!

I included San Vicente's Long Beach in this blog. Long Beach is an uprising destination of Palawan, and San Vicente has a commercial airport that connects tourists from Manila/Clark to this town. San Vicente airport is also closer to El Nido compared to Puerto Princesa. So if you are torn between Port Barton or San Vicente, check out my suggested itinerary and see if this would fit your schedule.

How do I get to Port Barton from Puerto Princesa

Van

From the city or airport (PPS), make your way to San Jose Terminal. A multicab ride will cost you Php15.
Look for a van going directly to Port Barton. There are plenty of van options.
The earliest trip is 6 am; the latest is 5 pm. If you have van contact, you may book ahead so they can pick you up at your hotel.
Travel time is 3.5 hrs, and the fare is ~Php400.

What to expect in Port Barton?

This remote town faces the West Philippine sea and gives a spectacular sunset everyday. When I visited the town, electricity is rotational, so choose a hotel/hostel that operates their generator at night so you can have at least a fan. There are few restaurants and bar within this humble town so don't worry with the liquor supply when you visit Port Barton.

Roaming Around

Port Barton is just a small town. No need to rend motorbike to roam around. You need to get tour packages to visit the islands via boat.

Port Barton

Port Barton may not be the top destination in Palawan, but once in a while, you may see this popping up on your IG feeds because of its unspoiled beaches, fantastic sunset, and that provincial vibe experience. If you want a beach escape with fewer tourists, Port Barton is just right for you.

Inaladelan Island

Inaladelan Island or German Island is privately owned but some tour packages include this island. Lunch will be served on this island for tour packages. This island is worth your IG post, so include this on your tour package.

Turtle Place

If you can dive, you will enjoy this. I've spotted a few turtles and even took pictures near them. Take caution from the water current, which may be a challenge when getting back to your boat.

Star fish Island

This is a small sandbar with no trees but plenty of starfish around. It is the last stop of the island hopping.

Long Beach

San Vicente's Long Beach is far from Port Barton. There used to be boat trips between Port Barton to San Vicente, but according to the locals, they were canceled by the local government. The only option, for now, is a 3 hours trip by land. Van service is available.

Long Beach is a 14.7km long shoreline with fine light brown sand. The water here is clear with small waves good for kite surfing. Drone shots are impressive because you will see the long stretch of sand and coconut trees.

Bato ni Ningning

No drone when visiting the Long Beach in San Vicente? No worries. You may still see a birds eye view of this shoreline at Bato ni Ningning. Just hire a habal-habal or tricycle to get up there. Walk a little more bit and see the breath-taking view. Haggle with the price but rate usually starts at ~Php200

Port Barton or San Vicente?

A common question you would hear from travelers.

San Vicente's Long Beach is now being developed to be leading tourist destination. Land value in this area is getting high but there are few establishments in the area. On the other hand, Port Barton's simplicity makes it more attractive. Still, it varies depending on what you want to see and experience.

When I traveled here, I went first to Long Beach for a quick swim then head to Port Barton and stayed for 2 nights.
